Our annual chapter baseball game outing at Segra Stadium, home of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, was another smashing success. Because of a rained-out Friday game, our event turned out to be a double-header, both games which were won by the Woodpeckers 4-1 and 3-2. The second game won by a homerun at the bottom of the 7th (double-headers are 7-inning games) thus culminating a very exciting evening at the ballpark.

Once again, we had the affair on the Party Deck which offers protection from the elements, plus several sitting and viewing options. Everyone was pleasantly comfortable and cheerful. It was a relatively cool evening and while it threatened to rain late during the second game, it never did.

A picnic buffet was part of the fare, and it included hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, potato salad, bake beans, watermelon, cookies, and soft drinks. A “pay-as-you-go” bar selling adult beverages was also available.

Tad Davis, our Event Coordinator, arranged for a prize drawing throughout the evening. The giveaways included hats, balls, pins and other assorted baseball trinkets.

Marge Dederick was the winner of the 50/50 raffle and took home $73.

Tad, assisted by Janet Robinson, did a singularly excellent job in arranging and managing the whole event!
