ANNUAL ROTC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS LUNCHEON

This event took place at the Mash House Brewing Company in Fayetteville, NC.

This annual ROTC Scholarship Awards Luncheon marked the 26th anniversary of the Cape Fear Chapter’s ROTC Scholarship Program. Since its inception in 1998, the Chapter has awarded a total of $207,000 in ROTC scholarships.

The meeting was convened by President Underwood who led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Chaplain Williamson delivered the invocation.

BG Jason B. Nicholson, Commanding General, US Army Security Assistance Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama was the guest speaker.

The main event on the agenda was the presentation of seven scholarships as follows:

Cadet Gabriela F. Sanchez, Army ROTC, UNC Pembroke, Pembroke, North Carolina was the winner of the Meinhardt ROTC Scholarship valued at $2,500

Cadet Donna O. Montero, Army ROTC, Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina was the winner of a Cape Fear Chapter, MOAA ROTC Scholarship valued at $2,000

JROTC SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Cadet Kaleigh A.L. Butterworth, Air Force JROTC, Terry Sanford High School, Fayetteville, North Carolina was the winner of the Bill Dadek Memorial JROTC Scholarship valued at $2,500

Cape Fear Chapter, MOAA, JROTC Scholarships valued at $2,000 each were awarded to:

Cadet J’nyia K. Monroe, Army JROTC, Westover High School, Fayetteville, North Carolina

Cadet Miracle A. Gonzales, Army JROTC, Lumberton Senior High School, Lumberton, North Carolina

Cadet JaKayla A. Duell, Army JROTC, Overhills High School, Spring Lake, North Carolina

Cadet Jenilynne K. Perez, Army JROTC, Westover High School, Fayetteville, North Carolina

Taking part in the presentation of scholarships to the ROTC cadets included: Chapter President Richard Underwood and BG Nicholson.

Scholarship recipients were accompanied by parents, family members, and ROTC cadre too numerous to list here.
