The guest speaker for the evening was MG (Ret) Sidney Shachnow who delivered a powerful and inspirational presentation based on a book he authored entitled "Hope and Honor", an autobiographical account of his extraordinary life and military career.

Born in Kaunas, Lithuania in 1934 he was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp as a young boy for three years during WW II until liberated by the Soviet Army.

He immigrated to the United States in 1950, enlisted in the US Army as a private and 40 years later retired as a two star general.

MG Shachnow is the only holocaust survivor to achieve the rank of general in the history of the U.S. military.
