Joint CFC/LOM Christmas Formal Dinner-Dance
December 13, 2014
President Juan Chavez welcomes members and guests to the first joint CFC/LOM Christmas Formal dinner/dance explaining that this traditional holiday event was sponsored solely by the LOM for many years, until declining attendance forced a cancellation in 2013. In an effort to reinstate this long-lasting tradition, the CFC decided to take the lead with the help of the Ladies, to enhance its viability.
Another factor that made this year’s event special was the fact that this was the last opportunity for our members to participate in a formal affair in the Lafayette Room of the former Fort Bragg Officers Club; a venue that holds fond memories for many of our members having attended numerous social events in that grand ballroom over the years. The facility will closed permanently in February and the grand ballroom will sadly be razed.
So this year’s event, was a tremendous success. It was festive, it was nostalgic, and it was an evening to remember. Everyone looked elegant in their dress mess uniforms and/or finest formal attire. The dinner was superb, and the dance band was exceptional keeping the dance floor swinging until the last set was played. Those who elected not to attend, missed out on a most memorable event.
Special thanks to George Blanc representing the CFC, and Argie Rodriguez of the LOM, co-project officers for the event, who did an outstanding job in making this event such a success.
